Big Fat Weddings banned in this Indian State

The Jammu & Kashmir Government banned bit fat weddings in the state by imposing a limit on the number of guests and number of dishes to be served. This decision was taken upon receiving various complaints regarding the extravagant weddings & huge wastage of essential commodities.

In the Government Order, The PDP-BJP Coalition Government made it clear that the number of guests to be invited by Bride's Family shouldn't exceed 500 People. Whereas, The limit is 400-odd people for the Groom's Family. In the case of engagements and other small functions, Only 100 people are allowed to be invited.

Number of Veg & Non-Veg Dishes should be a maximum of 7 each. Two Sweet & Fruit Stalls were permitted. Offering dry-fruits and sweet packets along with invitation cards has been banned. Even use of loudspeakers, amplifiers and firecrackers during private functions were banned.

The Government Order restricting number of guests and dishes at marriages and other functions will come into effect from April 1st, 2017.
