Union Government has invited the wrath of common man with the cash crunch post demonetization. To pacify the Below Poverty Line (BPL) Families, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is mulling to offer the freebie and send an indication that they are the beneficiaries of currency ban.
Out of close to 25 crore Jan Dhan accounts, Around 5.8 crore are Zero-Balance Accounts. All of these nil balance accounts will be receiving Rs 10,000 each. This measure would cost Centre to the tune of Rs 58,000 crore.
In the wake of Assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Goa early next years, The reward of Rs 10,000 per each Jan Dhan account with zero-balance will certainly improve the prospects of BJP & its alliance partners. Centre is also keen on announcing some measures that benefit farmers of the country in the near future.
