Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa isn't going to leave any thing in terms of bringing the essential commodities to every household in the state at affordable prices. After Canteens, Cement, Water, Salt & Medical Care, The Iron Lady launched Amma Baby Care Kit scheme which is intended to provide essential items to the newborn and mothers.
Amma Baby Care Kit scheme was first announced in Tamil Nadu Assembly in August 2014. The other day, Jayalalitha officially launched the welfare scheme by offering the kits to five mothers at the Secretariat.
Amma Baby Care Kits contains 16 items which include bed, mosquito net, dress, towel, napkin, nail-clipper, doll, hand sanitiser, 100ml oil, 60ml shampoo, a soap along with a box, medicine for the mother and a box to store essentials meant for the newborn. The cost of the kit stood at Rs 1,000 each. Tamil Government has allotted Rs 67 crore for Amma Baby Care Kit scheme.
