Tamil Nadu Government initiated the process of seizure of 68 properties belonging to former CM Jayalalithaa, Sasikala, Elavarasi and Sudhakaran in connection with the Rs 66.65 crore disproportionate assets case. Trial Court convicted all the four and imposed a fine of Rs 100 crore on Jayalalithaa, Rs 10 crore each on three others. Supreme Court upheld the verdict of the trial court.

Reportedly, AIADMK Government ordered Collectors of six districts where these 68 properties exist to take possession of them. Which means, They will be under the control of Government from now. Boards will be set up in these properties informing any registrations willn't be entertained.

Jayalalithaa's residence Veda Nilayam in Poes Garden is one of the properties attached to the DA Case. Tamil Nadu Government might soon convert it into Jayalalithaa Memorial. This move would be welcomed by the Tamilians who were pained by the unpleasant reports appearing in media about the maintenance of Veda Nilayam since Amma's demise. Other properties might be used for either official purpose or sold in auction.
