June 14th, 1996: Janata Party Chief filed a complaint with Chennai's District & Sessions Judge.

September 18th, 1996: FIR registered against Jayalalithaa, Sasikala, Sudhakaran and Ilavarasi.

June 2nd, 1997: Permission granted to prosecute Jayalalithaa.

June 4th: Charge sheet filed in the Rs 66.65 crore disproportionate assets case.

February 28th, 2003: DMK Leader K Anbazhagan moves Supreme Court seeking transfer of trail.

November 18th, 2003: Supreme Court transferred the two illegal assets cases to Bengaluru Court.

September 27th, 2014: A Trial Court in Karnataka convicted all the four and sentences them to 4 years imprisonment. While A1 Jayalalithaa was fined Rs 100 crore, A2 Sasikala, A3 Ilavarasi and A4 Sudhakaran were asked to pay Rs 10 crore each. All of them were arrested and sent to jail.

October 7th, 2014: Karnataka High Court rejects Jayalalithaa bail plea

October 17th, 2014: Supreme Court grants bail to all the four involved in the case.

December 18th, 2014: Supreme Court extends bail to Amma by four months. It also orders Karnataka High Court to wrap up Jayalalithaa's appeal in 3 months

May 11th, 2015: Karnataka High Court acquits all the four from corruption charges.

May 23rd, 2015: Karnataka Government challenges the verdict of High Court in Supreme Court.

June 7th, 2016: Supreme Court reserves verdict after arguments for 4 months.

February 14th, 2017: Supreme Court convicted Sasikala, Ilavarasi and Sudhakaran by quashing the Karnataka High Court verdict. The verdict of the trail court has been upheld and all the three convicts were asked to surrender to serve remainder of jail sentence. The trio will surrender in the trial court at Bengaluru Today.
