The other day, Tamil Nadu CM Palanisami declared Jayalalithaa's Poes Garden residence will be converted into a memorial and kept open for public.
Unexpectedly, Jayalalithaa's Niece Deepa stakes claim to the legal rights of the Poes Garden Property. Saying that AIADMK Government hasn't consulted the family members before making the announcement, She threatened to take legal action if such an attempt is made. She terms the announcement of CM about conversion of Veda Nilayam into Memorial as a 'Drama'.
Whereas, Jaya's nephew Deepak Jayakumar penned a letter to CM over the same issue. 'I am the legal heir of Veda Nilayam as per the will written by My Grandmother Sandhya (Jaya's Mom). Though we won't object conversion into memorial, Government should have followed the law and take the consent of the heirs before planning to take over the private property,' he wrote.
Deepa Jayakumar took a plunge into politics post the demise of Jayalalithaa. She floated the political party MGR Amma Deepa Peravai on Jaya's birth anniversary (Feb 24th) and filed her nomination for RK Nagar by-election. However, Election Commission cancelled the by-poll after Ruling Party was caught red handed bribing voters.
