Centre spills cold water on AP Special Status

Update: 2016-05-04 15:42 GMT
Here comes another shocker for ruling TDP from its ally BJP. Centre government which has been giving negative signals about according special status to AP has once again exhibits its stand. The Union Minister of State for Finance Mr Jayanth Singh said that Special Status is not part of the AP Reorganization Act.

Jayanta Sinha made these comments in a written reply to a question by TDP's Anakapalle MP Avanthi Srinivas. The Minister in his writer reply added that even NITI Ayog too did not recommend the special status to bifurcated state.

The Minister however assured  that all the allocations specified in the bifurcation act would be made to Andhra Pradesh. So far Centre released 12,806 cr to the state. He said the state would get special package.

The minister said the center will  go by the recommendations of the 14th Finance Commission and the Niti Ayog. It may be recalled that earlier Union minister of state for home affairs HP Chaudhary told Rajya Sabha that AP does not need special category status as the Centre has been fulfilling all other promises.
