India is one of the largest democracies in the world and anyone can start a political party and try their luck in elections. People having no criminal background and with clean history losing the elections raises a big debate on whether people prefer money over good leaders.
Former IAS officer Nagabhairava Jaya Prakash Narayana who was never involved in any controversy or any scam decided to venture into politics to serve the people. He formed Lok Satta Party and failed miserably. Seeing his political entry sensational director Rajamouli supported him in the polls.
After failing in politics Jaya Prakash Narayana focused on political reforms and has been suggesting some rules for making democracy healthy. His suggestions are receiving good responses.
Now Vasagiri Venkata Lakshminarayana aka JD Lakshmi Narayana is also traveling on the same path. Just like JP, JD is also focusing on reforms. Taking to Twitter he posted a few reforms in politics.
For the past few days, he has been suggesting such reforms. One suggestion he made as reform is that people facing criminal charges should not be allowed to contest any elections until the disposal of the case.
"Proposed Reform - 6 Any one against whom criminal charges are framed by the court in the offences mentioned in the Representation of People's Act, 1951, should be debarred from contesting elections till the disposal of the case in the trial," his tweet reads.
It is good to see that someone like JD is putting his thoughts into reforms. He might not have succeeded in electoral politics. But he wants to make some reforms so that democracy gets healthy. At least some of his reforms are implemented then we can see at least some of the candidates with criminal history out of politics.
