Joe Root Men Crushes India By 227 Runs, India's First Defeat In Home Since 2013

Team India, which was high on confidence by crushing Australia in Border-Gavaskar Trophy went head on head with the English team led by skipper Joe Root for the test series.

Chasing a target of 420, India lost the early wicket of Hit Man Rohit Sharma on day four. Rohit who looked good after scoring two boundaries was bowled by Leach at the personal score of 12.

India started Day 5 with 29/1. With the heroics of James Anderson and Leach, the English bowled out India for 192 to crush the host with a margin of 227 runs. England went 1-0 up in the Test series.

Anderson gave a fiery start to the time with his brilliant spell of 3-17. He had dismissed Shubman Gill (50), Ajinkya Rahane (0), Rishabh Pant (11). At lunch, India was 144/6.

Captain Virat Kohli and R Ashwin gave hope of reaching the target, but the England bowlers took wickets at regular intervals. Ben Stokes dismissed Virat Kohli at a personal score of 72. After Virat's dismissal, Indian innings didn't last too long.

On a batting pitch at Chennai, Joe Root scored a double century in the first innings and gave his team a dreamy start. Indian bowlers have bowled out the England team for 178 in the second innings which posted a target of 420 before India.

Coming to the Indian bowling, Ashwin has claimed 6 wickets for 61, which marks his 28th five-wicket haul in 75 Tests. He became the third Indian bowler to claim 300 wickets after Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh
