Journalist bags Dawood's Restaurant for Rs 4.28 crore

Former Journalist S Balakrishnan bought Dawood Ibrahim's restaurant in New Delhi during the auction held on Wednesday. He placed the highest bid of Rs 4.28 crore on behalf of NGO Desh Seva Samiti which takes care of child welfare and women empowerment. An English Speaking and Computer Training Institute will be run at this property from now onwards. Balakrishnan wants to name the property after Ashfaqullah Khan who is a patriotic personality.

A week before the auction, S Balakrishnan informed media about the threats he has been receiving from Chhota Shakeel (Dawood's close associate) for taking part in the auction. The SMS received sent by Shakeel reads, 'You are taking part in the auction. What happened to you? I hope you are okay'. Balakrishnan says this is D Company's style of threatening.

Dawood Ibrahim owns Zaika Restaurant and one of his seven properties which were seized by the Indian Government post the underworld don fled India.
