The Juvenile Justice Bill was passed in Rajya Sabha after a day long debate. As per the new law, 16-Year-Old's who have committed heinous crimes like rape and murder will be treated as adults and they should serve maximum punishment if proven guilty.
However, The Juvenile Offender in December 16th Gangrape case who was released on Sunday have got nothing to worry as the new law willn't have any affect on him.

While BJP and TMC claimed credit for passage of Juvenile Justice Bill, Main Opposition Congress felt the need to send the Bill for select committee reviewing inspite of voting in favor of it. Left Parties, on the other hand, walked out of the house after Seetharam Yechuri demanded Centre to sent the Bill to Select Committee.
