In the orders, the NHRC had directed the Telangana government to submit a report on the backwater issue as to how it affects the farmers and gave eight weeks to submit the report. A lawyer had moved the NHRC on the behalf of the farmers saying that farmers are facing issues with the backwater.

Saying that the black water issue is causing great troubles to the farmers, one Shravan Kumar, a lawyer had knocked on the doors of NHRC saying that the farmers who are on the verge of losing their crops and livelihood are not getting compensation from the government and held the wrong estimation of the Telangana government irresponsible for this.

The lawyer also mentioned that the farmers who lost the lands due to the project have reached out to Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan to submit a request on the issues they are facing, media reports said.

Hearing the lawyer's arguments, the National Human Rights Commission of India(NHRC) had served notice to the Telangana government and Centre in this regard asking the governments to file a report.
