Kalyana Lakshmi scheme Extended for BC'S

The Telangana government has extended the Kalyana Lakshmi scheme to Backward class community in the state. The scheme was so far restricted to financially weak SC, ST families. Now the government has decided to include BC's in the scheme.

The scheme which was one of the poll promise  was launched by Telangana government and  is aimed at providing financial assistance of Rs 51,000 for the girls belong to SC, ST and minority community at the time of marriage. A one-time financial assistance of Rs 51,000 will be provided to the bride's family at the time of marriage to meet the marriage related expenses.

With the new guidelines a Telangana resident girl, over 18 years of age, belonging to BC, SC or ST communities with a combined annual income of her parents not exceeding Rs 2 lakh is eligible for the Scheme. For Minorities the same scheme was called as 'Shaadi Mubarak'

An amount of Rs. 337 crore have been released for 'Kalyana Laxmi' and 'Shaadi Mubarak' schemes last year. As per records so far 41,123 people benefitted from Kalayana Laxmi Pathakam
