Kamal Haasan compared Hindi language to a little child in diapers during an event held at Loyola College in Chennai. 'Among the languages we have, Hindi is the youngest one when compared to Tamil, Telugu and Sanskrit. Still, We have to take care of that language too as its our child...Its like a baby in diapers,' he said.

The Makkal Needhi Maiam Chief claimed to be having compassion and kindness towards Hindi which is a good language. He, however, objected the attempts to force it on the people. 'Don't stuff it down our throats,' commented the Actor-turned-Politician.

'One Nation, One Language' Call given by Union Home Minister Amit Shah created an uproar down South. PM Narendra Modi tried to pacify the South Indians by accepting that Tamil was an ancient language during his recent visit to Tamil Nadu. Following which, DMK Chief MK Stalin demanded Centre to recognize Tamil as an official language in the country. He mentioned, 'Tamil is an official language in few countries but not in India, which happens to be its birthplace'.
