Will the BJP national leadership rehabilitate former minister and BJP AP former president Kanna Lakshminarayana. Indications are that the party is going to give him a key post and take him to the national level. While nothing is clear as yet, there is a strong buzz that he would soon be appointed as the party incharge for the all-important state of Uttar Pradesh.
Kanna Lakshminarayana has all along been a Congress man and fought his way up in the party. He fought with the TDP and grew on to become a minister in YSR cabinet. However, post the bifurcation of the state, he joined the BJP and was immediately made the party state president. As AP BJP president, he had toured the whole state and fought very hard. He tried to activate the party's organisational network. However, things weren't easy in the YSRCP wave of 2019. When he began criticising the YSRCP, he was seen as a pro-TDP person. Finally, he was replaced by Somu Veerraju.
Since then, Kanna faded into the background and nothing was heard of him. But, now it appears that the party has decided to rehabilitate him. It wants to place him honourably. Incidentally, even Somu Veerraju too proved to be no great shakes. As a result, bringing him back has become necessary. If sources are to be believed, he would be made party observer for UP, which will go to the polls next year. If not he would be taken into the national team. If that happens, we would once again be able to see him very active in state politics.
