Speaker Disqualifies 14 Rebel MLAs Ahead Of Trust Vote

Update: 2019-07-28 08:02 GMT
Karnataka Speaker KR Ramesh Kumar disqualified 14 Rebel MLAs of Congress and JD (S) on Sunday. A ruling has been passed that disqualified Legislators can't contest elections until the expiry of the term of 15th Assembly. This development took place a day before the floor test of BJP President BS Yeddyurappa in the Assembly.

Speaking to media, Speaker KR Ramesh Kumar confessed that pressure mounted him during the crisis has pushed him into depression. He informed BS Yeddyurappa will face vote of confidence on Monday.

Disqualification of 3 MLAs on Thursday and 14 Legislators on Sunday brought down the total strength of the House to 209. Which means, Any Political Party having 105 MLAs can form the government.

BJP exactly have 105 MLAs and 2 Independents are also backing the Saffron Party. Few more Congress-JD (S) MLAs could be joining BJP in near future. That's how stability can be brought to continue ruling as long as possible.
