The first day of the holy Pushkaram's has seen a shocking tragedy. A stampede at the ghat saw over 30 people losing lives. All the political parties expressed shock and grief over the tragedy.
In the wake of tragic stampede at the Rajahmundry pushkar ghat security has been beefed up at the Pushkar Ghats all over in the Telangana state. Telangana chief minister alerted the officials all over the state.
NDRF as well as the fire services personnel were put on alert at the temple town of Bhadrachalam. Ghats at the Basara temple were also on high alert to avert possible eventualities.
About 3,000 police personnel are deployed at the pushkaram ghats and 1,000 fire services are ready to work in case of tragedy.In addition to expert swimmers some local fishermen were put on alert.
Meanwhile Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday ordered a judicial enquiry into the stampede at the Pushkar ghat in Rajahmundry. Earlier the Chief Minister announced an ex gratia of Rs. 10 lakh to each of the bereaved families.
