Congress Senior Leader Jairam Ramesh opined Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao received 'cooked biryani' like Hyderabad post the bifurcation of United AP. He went on to say TRS Chief had no contribution what-so-ever in the making of this biryani.
Jairam Ramesh recalled the discussion which took place in 2014 over Hyderabad - Should it be Telangana Capital or Joint Capital of Two States or A Union Territory. He added, 'Then, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi took the decision to ensure Hyderabad goes to Telangana. With a revenue of Rs 16,000 crore, Hyderabad was like a cooked biryani then. The revenue has now surpassed Rs 25,000 crore'.
The Congress Leader maintained that Chief Ministers of United AP Brahmanand Reddy, NT Rama Rao, Chandrababu Naidu, Rajasekhar Reddy and Kiran Kumar Reddy had developed Hyderabad. He told KCR can't claim credit for the development of Hyderabad.
Jairam Ramesh disclosed that Special Category Status was announced by then PM Manmohan Singh for Seemandhra to compensate the loss of Rs 16,000 crore. He slammed KCR, who remained silent in 2014, for demanding Special Category Status for Telangana now and termed it as a betrayal.
