KCR seeks Left support in Munugode bi-election

Update: 2022-08-20 08:36 GMT
It appears Telangana chief minister and TRS supremo KCR doesn't want to leave anything to chance on Munugode bypoll. He doesn't want any split in the ant- BJP votes. Hence, he is even courting the Left parties.

On Saturday, he had a meeting with the leaders. Of the CPI and the CPM. He held long discussion with CPI's Chada Venkat Reddy and CPM's Palla Raghav Reddy and sought his support in the upcoming bypoll. The Left parties have in principle agreed to support the TRS. KCR also requested the Left leaders to attend hispiblic meeting in Munugode. Interestingly, the Left leaders consented to attend the meeting.

The Left parties had supported the TRS even during the Huzurnagar bypolls. They did this at a time when the RTC strike was on and the Left-backed trade unions were leading the agitation. Despite that, the CPI and the CPM extended their support to the TRS.

In other bypolls too, the Left parties generally stood by the TRS. This has invited severe criticism as the people at large are unhappy with the TRS rule. Even the workers of both the Left parties Are unhappy as the Left parties have always espoused the cause of the poor and the marginalized. Aligning with the TRS purely because of antipathy to BJP at the cost of the party's core ideology is being criticised.
