Pattikonda constituency in Kurnool district is all set to witness a battle royale in 2019. The constituency is currently represented by deputy chief minister K E Krishnamurthy. But the patriarch of TDP politics in Kurnool district wants to opt out of the elections this time. While he wants to retire, he also wants his son Shyam Babu to become an MLA from the same seat. So, KE is doing everything he can to promote his son ss the TDP candidate.
However, Shyam Babu faces a tough competition from Kangari Sridevi of the YSRCP. Sridevi's husband Narayana Reddy had been murdered by political rivals and Shyam Babu is an accused in the murder case. So, Sridevi is pulling all stops to defeat Shyam Babu. In fact, she is the first candidate that YSRCP chief YS Jagan has announced in the runup to 2019 elections. She, however, has trouble from Congress biggie Kotla Suryaprakash Reddy, who is trying to put up a strong candidate from Pattikonda.
But, Shyam faces internal dissidence also. Tuggali Nagaraju, a strong TDP leader with sound backing in Tuggali segment, is also aspiring for the Pattionda seat. This dissidence might prove costly for Shyam.
