Kerala Government estimates the loss incurred to private and public properties in the state so far due to floods is about Rs 19,512 crore. A clarity on total damage can be obtained only after the situation reaches normalcy in the Southern State.
CM Pinarayi Vijayan sought an immediate assistance of Rs 2000 crore from the Centre for the relief and rehabilitation. He also sought deployment of more Army Personnel and Choppers to speed up the rescue measures.
Whereas, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced financial assistance of only Rs 500 to Kerala. PMO informed the fresh announcement is in addition to Rs 100 crore announced by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh Yesterday.
In addition, Modi announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh for the families of deceased and Rs 50000 for those who were severely injured.
