Khel Ratna To Kohli, Dhronacharya To Dravid!

Update: 2018-04-27 04:55 GMT
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recommended the name of Indian skipper Virat Kohli for Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna.

Actually, Kohli's name was recommended for Khel Ratna in 2016 itself. He missed the honour as the focus was more on Rio Olympics champs PV Sindhu, Sakshi Malik and Deepa Karmakar.

In addition, Legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar was recommended for Dhyan Chand Lifetime Achievement award. Generally, Dhyan Chand Award will be conferred to those who missed Arjuna Award in their playing days. But, Gavaskar is already an Arjuna Awardee.

Rahul Dravid, who was instrumental in making India's Under-19 Team World Champions, is being preferred for the Dronacharya award. BCCI stopped recommending any names for Dronacharya award as too many Coaches began claiming credit for players success. This time, The Board can't ignore the valuable services of 'The Wall'.
