Once shunned by the United States,PM Narendra Modi rode a wave of enthusiasm and popular support Monday to the White House. He kicked off a two-day visit with President Barack Obama in Washington.
As a honor US President Barack Obama on Monday hosted a private dinner for Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the White House, ahead of their summit level talks.Modi was welcomed by Obama with special greetings in Gujarati. Obama greeted him in Gujarati as "Kem Chho?" (how are you?). First time in US president history who wished in regional language to any Indian prime minister surprised many. But First Lady Michelle Obama was not attended this dinner.
In this dinner Modi was accompanied by external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj, national security advisor Ajit Doval and Indian ambassador to the US S Jaishankar among others.
