Know Which State Contributes The Highest Revenue Tax

According to the latest data of the Central Board Of Direct Tax, Revenue from Maharashtra, Delhi, and Karnataka is almost 61 percent. It is around 2 percent if we include Gujarat and Tamilnadu states also. The revenue generated from the Southern states is more than the Nothern states.

Maharashtra which is in the border of South and North generates almost 3/4th of the country's revenue. While the Southern states have contributed Rs 12 Lakh Crores, Maharashtra alone contributed Rs 20 Lakh Crores. If we consider Maharashtra as a southern state its almost half the total revenue of the Country.

All the eight southern states contribute almost Rs 31.58 Lakh Crores in the form of Direct Tax Revenue.
 
Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra are among the states where direct tax revenues are highest for six financial years from 2013-14 to 2018-19. The share from these three states is around 54 percent. However, most of the revenue of the country is from Maharashtra. Rs.19.17 lakh crores direct tax came from Maharashtra. Maharashtra's share was 37.85 percent in the last six years.

After Maharashtra Karnataka, Tamilnadu and Andhra Pradesh are on the list respectively. Interestingly, Kerala, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, and Oddisa has revenue of less than Rs. 1 lakh Crores.
