Kohli-Rahane breaks Sachin-Laxman Record

Update: 2016-10-10 05:34 GMT
Indian Test Skipper Virat Kohli and Vice Captain Ajinkya Rahane set a new record with impeccable batting skills during the ongoing 3rd Test against New Zealand in Indore.

In 2004, Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman have set a 4th Wicket record partnership by collectively contributing 353 runs. This record was shattered by Kohli-Rahane when India's score touched 453-mark. While Kohli got out at 211, Rahane missed a double ton by giving away his wicket at 188. India declared the 1st innings at 557 for the loss of 5 wickets.

Virat Kohli is the first Indian Skipper to score two double centuries in Tests, that too in back-to-back series. Only Tiger Pataudi, Sachin Tendulkar and Mahendra Singh Dhoni scored a double ton as skippers so far.

In July this year, Kohli made a double century against West Industry. After Sachin, Kambli, Dravid and Sehwag, Kohli scored two double centuries in the same year.

In reply, New Zealand were 36 for no loss by the end of 14 Overs. They need to play the whole day to avoid follow-on.
