Kohli sole Indian in Forbes Highest Paid Athletes

Indian skipper Virat Kohli is the only sportsperson from the country to feature in 2017 Forbes list of Top 100 Highest Paid Athletes. The 28-Year-Old was ranked 89th with a total earnings of $22 million ($3 million salary, 19 million endorsements).

Forbes described Kohli as 'Indian Cricket Phenom' and pointed out how he is being compared to cricket god Sachin Tendulkar for a good reason. Even Kohli's records and his rise to skipper of Indian Team at a young age has been mentioned.

Last year, Kohli earned $1 million representing Team India and $2.3 million playing for RCB in Indian Premier League.

Soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo topped Forbes list with annual earnings of $93 million. US Basketball champ LeBron James ($86.2 million), Argentine soccer legend Lionel Messi ($80 million), Tennis star Roger Federer ($64 million) and American basketball star Kevin Durant occupy the remaining Top 5 spots.

Golfer Tiger Woods stood at 17th Position in Forbes list. While Tennis player Novak Djokovic is at 16th spot, Rafael Nadal is at 33rd position.

Sportspersons from 21 Nations featured in Forbes Top 100. US dominated by occupying as many as 63 Spots. Total Salary of Top 100 Athletes is about $3.11 billion, which is 1 percent drop compared to last year. The earnings include salaries, prize money and bonus players pocketed from June 2016 to June 2017.
