Top 3 Richest Telangana MLAs

Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) analyzed the affidavits filed by 119 newly elected MLAs in Telangana.

About 106 out of 119 MLAs are crorepatis. 83 (94 percent) out of 88 TRS MLAs, 14 (74 percent) out of 19 Congress MLAs, 5 (71 percent) out of 7 MIM MLAs, 1 (50 percent) out of 2 TDP MLAs and 1 BJP MLA (100 percent) have declared assets worth over Rs 1 crore. On an average, Each MLA in Telangana Assembly is worth Rs 15.71 crore.

Munigode MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy of Congress is the richest elected public representative in Telangana Assembly with assets valued at Rs 314 crore. While TRS Nagar Kurnool MLA Marri Janardhan Reddy comes second with Rs 161 crore net worth, Congress Palair MLA K Upender Reddy stood at third position with assets worth Rs 91 crore.

73 (61 Percent) out of 119 MLAs have been facing criminal cases. About 43 MLAs (40 percent) have declared serious criminal offences. While 7 MLAs have been facing charges of attempt to murder, 3 MLAs were booked for crimes against women.

Educational Qualification of 44 MLAs (37 percent) is between 5th Class to 12th Standard. 69 MLAs (58 percent) have an educational qualification of graduate or above. One MLA declared he is just a literate.

86 MLAs are in the age group of 41 to 60 years. While 5 MLAs fall in the age group of 31 to 40, 28 MLAs have been in the age group of 61 to 80 years.

Six out of 119 MLAs are Women. In 2014, 9 Women got elected as MLAs in Telangana.
