A heated argument took place between Leader of the Opposition Jana Reddy and Telangana IT Minister K Taraka Rama Rao on the fourth day of Winter Session of Assembly.
While he was speaking, Finance Minister Etela Rajendar commented, 'Naa Telangana, Naa Rashtram'. To which, Jana Reddy raised objected and suggested the Minister to say, 'Mana Telangana, Mana Rashtram' reminding the ruling party that even Congress contributed to the cause of Telangana statehood.
At this point, KTR dared to say Congress party never treated the state as 'Naa Telangana'. He accused the National Party of conducting the marriage in 1956 without the consent of Telanganites. 'Congress hasn't given statehood, We achieved it with never-ending fight,' he declared.
Then, Jana Reddy recalled KCR visiting his house to ask what should be done to achieve Telangana state after the mass resignations of Seemandhra Lawmakers. 'We convinced Sonia Gandhi that statehood is a necessity. Congress party was in ruling in the state and at centre. We could have suppressed the movement had if we aren't committed for statehood,' he said.
KTR took serious objection to this comment by Jana Reddy and demanded the senior Congress leader to withdraw it.
