Never Seen Such A Heavy Rain Before Says KTR

K. T. Rama Rao, Minister of Municipal and Urban Development, has been alerted by the Meteorological Department to warn of heavy rains in Hyderabad in the next three to four days. He conducted a review with GHMC Mayor Bontu Rammohan and senior officials at the GHMC headquarters on Monday morning.

Speaking on the occasion, KTR said that this was the second biggest rain in the history of Hyderabad. He said that he has been living in Hyderabad for 40 years and has never seen such rain till now.  

The Minister said there is a possibility of heavy rains in the next three to four days. GHMC officials were asked to be vigilant in this regard. He also directed the Municipal Department to immediately appoint 100 senior officers as Special Officers to review the support activities for supervising the relief activities for the next 10 days.

According to official reports, 33 people were killed, 3 are missing and over 30,000 persons were evacuated due to the unprecedented rainfall. The deceases families have provided an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh each to 29 families.
