With the BJP breathing down the neck in Khammam, TRS working president KCR has moved in quickly to quell dissidence in the TRS. He has personally intervened in addressing the issue of divisions in the party and bring rapprochement among the warring leaders.
He reportedly held a meeting on Thursday with various leaders in Khammam district. This has become necessary in view of the upcoming municipal elections and graduates constituency elections. The BJP is on the upswing and is trying to wrest Khammam municipality from the TRS. At such a time, the TRS divided among three major groups â the Tummala group, the Ajay Puvvada group and Ponguleti group. These three groups are trying to undercut one another. As a result, the TRS lost several seats in Khammam district in 2018 and in the panchayat elections. Hence, KTR personally has taken upon himself the task of bringing the three factions together.
If sources are to be believed, KTR has spoken to all the three factions and asked them to stick together work in tandem. He is said to have told them that containing the BJP is the need of the hour and all factions should bury their differences. The TRS is more worried about Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, who has established contact with the BJP leaders and may even jump into the saffron party.
