KTR To Be CM In 2020?

Update: 2019-12-16 05:32 GMT
There is a strong buzz in the TRS that come New Year, KCR will make way for KTR as the chief minister of Telangana. KTR would be anointed king and KCR would remain the party president. The crown, sources say, could pass into the hands of KTR around Ugadi this year. KTR is already the working president of the party.

It may be recalled that KCR had dropped enough hints that he would pass the baton to KTR soon after the Lok Sabha elections. KCR estimated that there would be a hung parliament and with about 16 MPs, he would be playing a crucial role in shaping national politics. But, much to his disappointment, Modi has won a landslide with over 305 MPs. He did not need anyone's support. To add to it, the TRS could not win 16 MP seats in the state. The BJP had won four MP seats and the Congress had won three. As a result, the TRS had to remain content with just nine seats. Thus the TRS became inconsequential at the national level. So, KCR had to change his plans and remain as the CM of the state. As a result, the king-in-waiting, KTR could not become the CM.

But, sources close to the TRS say that KCR feels that he should anoint his son as the CM and he should focus on the party building, organisational strengthening and other issues. Sources say, the announcement could come somewhere around Ugadi next year. KCR feels that KTR should be made the CM, even while he is around. This will ensure smoother transition and there would be no opposition.
