Left Parties In Telangana Flirt With Congress, But Kiss TRS

Update: 2021-12-18 07:32 GMT
The Communists, who were once an extremely powerful political force, are now reduced to the role of marginal characters in the AP political theater. On one hand, they talk about opposing the party in power in both the Centre as well as the state, but on the other hand, they help the ruling TRS elections . Sometimes  the support is open and sometimes clandestine.

The Left parties still have considerable strength in both Nalgonda and Khammam districts.  Until recently, the party used to win at least one or two seats from Khammam. But in the 2018 elections, they suffered a complete washout. Both the Left parties feel that the dilly-dallying by the Congress in deciding the seat-sharing is responsible for their complete rout.

Since then, the Left parties are showing lip sympathy to the agitations and protests launched by the Congress Party and make a show of their support, but actually side with the TRS at the crunch time.In Dubbak, they voted for the TRS claiming that their aim was to defeat the BJP. IN Nagarjunasagar, they sided with the TRS. They ignored appeals from senior politician Jana Reddy and went with the TRS.

In Huzurabad, they had openly said that they were going to support the TRS. They ignored the claims of Eatala Rajender, who began as a Leftist. Sources say the Left is wreaking vengeance on the Congress for the Left party rout in Telangana. Well! Who will they blame in the dismal performance in Andhra Pradesh?
