Vizag airport was on Monday put on high alert after a threatening letter was received. The letter warned that explosives will be used to blast the airport. Vizag Police Commissioner Amit Garg confirmed the development. The letter also threatened to blow up Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Nellore district and some other ports in AP. As per reports the letter was originated from Nirmal town of Adilabad district of Telangana.
The letter which was written in telugu also warned of "targeting" the Chief Ministers of both telugu states. The letter creating flutter and prompted officials to step up security in the two states
Security in and around the airport and other vital installations has been beefed and police collecting intelligence inputs on the matter. A bomb disposal squad and an anti-hacking unit were deployed at the airport. Authorities believe the letter is a hoax, but are not taking any chances and security has been stepped up.
