BJP Escapes With Adjournment Till March 5th

Protests of AP MPs in Parliament since the Union Budget 2018 was presented irked BJP-led NDA Government. To prevent any further trouble, Centre choose to skip the Parliament Sessions for sometime. On Friday, Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan adjourned the House till March 5th.  

This adjournment came a day after Congress Floor leader Mallikarjuna Kharge issued notice seeking debate and voting on 'Promises of AP Reorganisation Act 2014-Special Status' in Lok Sabha. AP hasn't placed any fresh demands but just asked Centre to fulfill the promises of the Reorganization Act 2014. Still, Speaker refused to allow a discussion on the issue.

On Friday too, AP MPs staged protest in the Parliament and tried to disrupt the proceedings. After adjournment for sometime, Attempt was made to pass few bills. But, Andhra MPs made it clear they won't allow any such proceedings until debate happens on promises made to the state. Then, BJP choose to adjourn the house for as many as 25 days.
