Despite a crushing defeat in Mangalagiri, TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh, it appears, has got the appetite to fight another battle. He seems to be determined to fight from Mangalagiri again in 2024 and give the YSRCP a run for its money. He has just completed a three-day tour of Mangalagiri constituency.
Nara Lokesh contested from Mangalagiri for the first time in 2019 elections. However, he had to taste defeat. He lost to YSRCP candidate and sitting MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy by over 5000 votes. This was a huge shock not just for the TDP but also for Lokesh himself. Everyone felt that this was the end of the LOkesh chapter in Mangalagiri.
But Lokesh has not left Mangalagiri. He has already toured Mangalagiri several times. Recently, he undertook a three-day tour of Mangalagiri and interacted with the voters. He held several meetings with the locals. Taking advantage of the Amaravati capital issue, he is going into the interiors of the constituency. Lokesh is expressing the confidence that Mangalagiri would be his in the 2024 election.
Meanwhile sources say that the mood is changing in Mangalagiri. MLA RK is now confined to only social media-based activities. He is finding the going tough especially after the YS Jagan government has proposed three-capitals for the state. The locals say even getting an appointment with RK seems to be a difficult taks.
