Brutal Gangrape in a moving bus in New Delhi on December 16th, 2012 has made a 22-Year-Old Woman who was then pursuing Masters in England raise questions such as, 'What prompts Men to behave in such manner? What are those circumstances?'.

Madhumita Pandey, a research student of criminology at the Anglia Ruskin University in UK, dared to visit New Delhi's Tihar Jail where the deadliest criminals were undergoing jail term. Since 2013, She interviewed over 100 rape convicts. Most of the rapists were either illiterates or primary school drop-outs. Just few of them managed to pass Class 10th.

Pandey, who is now 26, had the feeling that these Rapists are monsters when she began her Research. But, She realized they are just alike any other ordinary people after speaking with them and the crime had been committed due to improper upbringing and mindset. 'Rapists are neither monsters nor aliens, they are a part of our society. While Men have a wrong idea of masculinity, Women continue to believe they have to be submissive. After speaking to Rapists, you feel sorry for them. In fact, A lot of these convicts aren't convinced that they have committed a rape. A 23-Year-Old Rape Convict said he decided to teach a lesson to a 5-Year-Old Beggar Girl who disturbed him while he was busy cleaning a temple. He, however, wishes to marry the girl as he ruined her life and nobody gonna marry her. When I spoke to the rape victim who is now 10-Years-Old, She could hardly recollect what happened to her on that day. The Victim's Mom didn't even know the Accused was in jail since then,' she says.
