The controversial Agriculture bills introduced by the Union government have led to nationwide protests by the farmers mainly from Punjab, Haryana, and other parts of the country.

For nearly six months, the farmers have been agitating against the bills, arguing the government to repeal the bills. From Indian celebrities to Global celebrities the farmers' agitation has been receiving support.

When the farmers' agitation is racing support from various sections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has spoken about the farm bills and the farmers' agitation during his address to Rajya Sabha.

During his address, the Prime Minister said that the Agri bills were brought for the farmers and said the Minimum Support Price (MSP) will continue and the Mandis will be modernised.

The government is committed to helping the farming community. Since 2014, we have brought several changes in the agriculture sector to empower the farmers. Crop insurance scheme was one of such schemes.

The Prime Minister has once again made it clear that the government is ready to hold talks with the farmers and hear their concerns. I once again appeal to the farmers to end their agitation, he said.

The government is bound to end the protests by holding talks with the farmers. Several rounds of talks were held with the farmers so far. I don't know why they are protesting, he added.

Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020; Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, and The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act 2020 are the three farm bills passed by the government.
