Mallya To Get Red Corner Notice From Interpol

Liquor don Vijay Mallya’s troubles not going to end soon. In more worry for Vijay Mallya, an arrest warrant was issued against him by a special court in connection with the money laundering probe.
Special judge passed the orders on a plea by the Enforcement Directorate.

Enforcement Directorate's charges against Mallya that he had siphoned off Rs 430 crore of the IDBI loan and used this money to acquire property abroad. Council  representing the Enforcement Directorate, said Mallya was summoned thrice by the directorate to record his statement, but he repeatedly failed to appear. Hence they were seeking warrant against him for which the court has agreed.

The court also rejected a plea made by Kingfisher Airlines Limited to not pass any coercive orders as sought by the ED against Mallya. On April 15, the ED  had moved the special court seeking the warrant against Mallya who is currently outside India.

Mallya failed to honour ED summons for questioning in various cases pertaining to his loans of over Rs.9,000 crore and allegations of money laundering.The ED move came soon after the central government suspended Mallya's diplomatic passport on April 15. With this  the path has been cleared for a red corner alert to be issued by Interpol against Mallya.
