Mamta foists theft case on Suvendu Adhikari

The Mamta Banerjee government is continuing the witch-hunt against the opposition BJP in West Bengal. In the latest incident, the Mamta Government has filed a case of theft against BJP legislature party leader Suvendu Adhikari. The case was filed against Suvendu and his brother Soumendu Adhikari. The FIR said that both the brothers have 'stolen' the relief material meant for cyclone victims.

Suvendu was one of Mamta's closest aides till he fell out with her over giving more importance to her nephew Abhishek Banerjee. Suvendu, who saw himself as a successor to Mamta, became disgruntled and left the party to join the BJP. In fact, despite a massive TMC wave, he managed to defeat Mamta Banerjee by a slender margin in Nandigram assembly constituency. Soon after the elections, the CBI arrested three of the TMC MLAs in connection with the Narada scam. The case against Suvendu is being seen as a tit-for-tat action by Mamta Banerjee.

The complaint said that Suvendu and Soumendu have forcibly opened the doors of a godown where relief material was stored. They took the help of the CRPF to take a tarpaulin to set up tents for flood-hit people. Suvendu said the case was aimed at maligning his image. He said he would fight the case in the courts of law.
