Smriti Irani had a bad experience when she attended a function at Agriculture University in Amreli Town, Gujarat. A man in his 20s threw bangles at the Union Minister all of a sudden.

Ketan Kaswala who is a native of Mota Bhandaria village in Amreli district sat far away from the dais from where Smriti Irani was addressing the gathering. Suddenly, He stood up and threw two bangles aiming at the Union Minister. Thereafter, He shouted 'Vande Mataram'. Due to more distance in between Ketan & Smriti Irani, The bangles didn't reach the stage. Quickly, Cops took him into custody.

When Police were taking Ketan Kaswala away, Smriti Irani asked them to let him take part in the event and throw bangles, so that she could send them as gift to his wife.

Congress Leaders opined Ketan Kaswala, a farmer, demanded complete farm loan waiver in Gujarat. 'He expressed his anguish in that manner as farm loan waiver wasn't implemented in Gujarat though UP and Maharashtra Governments are in favour of it,' they added.
