Corona Crank Calls: Man Wants 4 Samosas, Officials Make Him Clean Four Drains
The police and the officials are straining their every nerve to serve the people during the lockdown. To ensure that the people are not put to any hardships and that there is no shortage of essential supplies to the people during the lockdown, the officials have set up helplines. But to their shock, they found that the public, for whose benefit these helplines have been set up, are sending most frivolous possible demands.
For instance some are demanding pizzas and samosas. On Monday, a person in Rampur of Uttar Pradesh sent an unusual request to the Swar tehsil control room. He wanted four Samosas to be delivered at his home. This request coming as it isat a time when the staff were working over time, incensed the officials to no end. Harassed and angry, the district collector (called district magistrate in UP) made the man to come to the main town and ensured that he cleaned the drains as a punishment. âThese crank calls are giving us torrid time and the staff members are harassed to no end.
Many are just calling up to enquire whether the helplines were indeed functioning. Unable to put up with these crank calls, the authorities are now imposing Rs 500 fine for every such crank call. Know how much they collected so far in the form of penalties? Rs 2 lakh in the past five days.
