Man who was most affected by Salman's Accident

Update: 2015-05-08 04:53 GMT
A Sessions Court in Mumbai found Salman Khan guilty of killing a person and injuring four others in 2002 by driving his Toyota Land Cruiser under the influence of alcohol. The one who was most affected by this accident is none of the 5 pavement dwellers but the actor's bodyguard.

Ravindra Patil, a 1998-batch Mumbai police constable, was assigned the job as bodyguard to Salman Khan after he complained of threats from the Underworld. He was sitting beside the actor in the ill-fated SUV at the time of accident.

Soon after the road mishap, Ravindra Patil lodged an FIR against Salman Khan. In his statement to the trail court, He claimed to have warned Salman to drive slowly as he was in an inebriated condition but the actor didn't pay heed to him. Mr.Patil was under severe pressure from within the police force to change his statement in favour of the Bollywood Star and he even went into hiding due to harassment.

All that Patil got in return for being honest and doing his duty to perfection is a dismiss order from police force. He was arrested in 2006 for failing to appear before court as witness on multiple occasions and got ousted from the post in November that year.

Another shocking aspect is the health issues of Mr. Patil. He was suffering from tuberculosis by the time he lost his job and his family has abandoned him to make things worse. He was found on the streets and breathed his last in October, 2007. The conviction of Salman Khan, however, is a victory of Ravindra Patil even though he wasn't with us Today! RESPECT!!!
