Manmohan Singh adds New Twist to Special Status

Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has at last broke his silence on the issue of according Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh. It was he who made an announcement in the Upper House regarding 5 years of Special Status during debate on Telangana Bill.

Manmohan Singh recalled the Six Promises made to the Telugu People during the bifurcation of United AP. He further adds, 'Even Union Cabinet has given its nod. Arun Jaitley had expressed his satisfaction on the assurances given by then UPA Government. UPA Government asked President to issue an ordinance but it wasn't done because of Election Schedule. Now, NDA have the responsibility to fulfill those promises'.

Speaking on the issue, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said: 'We have discussed about Special Status multiple times. Centre is committed to help Andhra Pradesh in every possible manner. We are working on measures to be take for development of Andhra. Already, PM Modi has spoken to AP MPs. We are confident of finding a solution that's acceptable to everyone'.

Manmohan Singh has given a new twist to the debate on Special Status by revealing about the ordinance. So far, No one has spoken about this crucial development.
