Demonetization led to cash crunch situation all over the country. Never been before people queued up before Banks and ATMs in such big numbers. Lack of adequate cash is forcing the people to call off marriages for time being.

Reportedly, As many as 50,000 weddings have been called off in Andhra Pradesh alone on Sunday which is said to be the most auspicious day of the season.

Although Centre permitted withdrawals up to 2.5 lakhs for weddings, Cash-strapped Banks weren't able to implement the exemption given to the families of bride & groom. Bank Officisl sought proofs such as Wedding Card, Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, List of vendors who will be paid in cash and Affidavits showing the vendors neither have a bank account or swipe machine.

This gave an impression that Union Government is really not concerned about the plight of people. Should the Families look after wedding arrangements or collect YMC documents of vendors for withdrawing cash? Even after submission of all the documents, Banks tell the customers that they couldn't pay more than Rs 1.2 lakh because of shortage of cash.
