The BJP in Telangana is talking big these days about unseating the TRS in the next elections. The public mood too seems to be ranged against the TRS government. BJP leaders are making claims that they would come to power as and when the elections are held in Telangana. The BJP is also organising padayatras in a big way.
But, is the BJP ready for the elections? Is it fully prepared and armed for electoral combat at the grassroots level? Are the booth committees in place across the length and breadth of Telangana? These are the questions that are being posed by those who are conducting the surveys at the ground level.
The BJP places lot of emphasis on the booth level organisation building. According to the BJP think tanks, the strength and efficacy of the booth level committees is evaluated on the basis of 32 points. The programmes are rated as A,B, C and D on the basis of these points.
Though there are 34000 polling booths in the state, the BJP target is to build booth committees in at least 30000 booths. Though the party's national leadership is pressuring the state unit to constitute these committees, there are serious lacunae.
In several places, there are committees on paper, but when state leaders cross verified, they were found to be fake committees. Not just that. Hundreds of members are not even aware that they were appointed members.
Sources said that a similar situation exists even in Hyderabad and Karimnagar Lok Sabha constituencies. Interestingly, Karimnagar is represented by none other than state president Bandi Sanjay himself. Now the central leadership reportedly asked for the verification of all the committees in every Lok Sabha constituency.
