Update: 2022-03-18 10:02 GMT
Indian Premier League, which was founded back in 2007 gave the much-needed boost for the short format. With the IPL and T20 World Cup getting launched in the same year, it took no time for the T20 to get super fandom among the fans.

The tournament which gave us so many memories and provided us rich entertainment is gearing up to entertain us for one more time. The inaugural match of the 2022 edition of IPL will be played on the 26th of this month. As the tournament is around the corner, let us talk about the successful captains in IPL as far as the winning percentage is concerned.

Rohit Sharma:

We will find no better name to start the list with 'Hitman' Rohit Sharma. He has been leading the team since Sachin Tendulkar bid his goodbye to the IPL. With his stunning stats, Rohit proved himself as a better captain than Sachin. Under Rohit Sharma's captaincy, Mumbai Indians had lifted the trophy five times, the highest for any team. Out of 116 matches he captained, Rohit guided his team to victory in 70 matches, which translates to 60.34 percent.

Steve Smith:

The Australian player who led Australia for a brief period and currently serving as the vice-captain of the team had established himself as one of the successful captains in the IPL format. So far, he has led two IPL teams. When the Pune Warriors team was made Rising Pune Supergiants, Smith was appointed as the skipper. However, the team could not win the IPL trophy. The other team he captained was Rajasthan Royals. His winning percentage is 59.52 percent.

Sachin Tendulkar:

A player who doesn't need any introduction. Tendulkar did not play more than one international T20 as it was a young generation's game. However, his fans got to see him play the short format with IPL. He was bought by the Mumbai Indians and made the skipper. During his stint, Sachin led the team in as many as 51 matches and recorded a winning percentage of 58.82 percent. Mumbai Indians came close to the IPL trophy but lost to CSK in the finals.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni:

Former Indian skipper Dhoni, who has a stunning success record continued his winning streak in the IPL tournament too. CSK has the second-highest number of IPL trophies. The Dhoni-led CSK went on to win four titles, including the previous edition trophy. Dhoni is on the fourth in this list as far as the winning percentage is concerned as his win percentage stood at 58.8 percent. Having led the team in 188 matches so far, Dhoni had won as many as 110 matches as skipper.

Cameron White:

Veteran player Cameron White who earlier served as the Australian skipper enjoys a long association with the IPL as well. Though he played a very less number of matches, he got the opportunity to lead not one but three teams. During his IPL career, Cameron White served as the skipper of RCB, Deccan Chargers, and SRH. He served as the skipper in 12 matches and out of them he took his respective teams towards victory in seven matches with a 58.33 percentage.
