President of India Ram Nath Kovind has rejected the mercy petition of Pawan Kumar Gupta, one of the four convicts in the brutal Delhi gang rape and murder which was dubbed as Nirbhaya by the media.
Earlier the curative plea filed by Pawan was rejected by the Supreme Court earlier in the day. The court had earlier in the day dismissed Pawan's and Akshay Kumar's Singh's applications for staying their death warrants.
AP Singh, lawyer of Pawan has moved the Supreme Court on Monday saying that he has filed a mercy petition and execution sought to be stayed. While hearing the court has pulled up the lawyer and said, "You are playing with fire, you should be cautious" and added "one wrong move by anybody, and you know the consequences."
By this Ram Nath Kovind has kept his word on the mercy petition that the convicts in the Nirbhaya case are not worth to show mercy on them. Earlier the mercy petitions filed by the remaining three convicts were also rejected by the President.
