Migrants Who Begged For Food Stand In Queues with Money To Buy Liquor

How even the poorest of the poorest are able to buy bottles of liquor? This question is baffling all those people who had provided them with food and groceries. For the last 44 days, these leaders and social volunteers spent from their hard-earned money or begged from others to feed the 'poor.' But, now they find that these 'poor' people have enough money to buy quite a few bottles of liquor and enjoy.

A BJP leader from Neredmet, who has fed the poor and the migrant labourers for a month-and-a-half was flabbergasted to see that all the so-called poor were standing in queues before the liquor shops. Velluri Prasanna, who is also a lawyear, was dumbstruck seeing the very people who were begging for food in the queue. She picked up a stick and shooed them away. So, angry was she that she even hurled invectives at them and asked them as to where from they got money to buy liquor. She knew many of them by their names as she was providing them with food for the past 43 days. Let the police book a case against me if they want. But I am going to give an earful to these people," she was heard screaming.

In many other places too, those who were begging for food till the other day, were seen paying up to buy liquor from the wine shops. Sources say that in most cases, the so-called poor were selling the subsidized rice and other groceries to pool up money to buy shampoos, luxury soaps and now, liquor.
