India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) today announced first list of candidates for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections . The party leader Belal Ahmad said his party has named six candidates . The party is contesting in 24 assembly constituencies . Other 18 candidates would be named later. The AIMIM fielded its Bihar unit president Akhtarul Iman from Kochadam assembly seat.
Few days before MIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi said his party will contest the election.The AIMIM is contesting the Bihar assembly polls in Muslim-dominated constituencies in Seemanchal region which comprise mainly four districts - Araria, Purnea, Kishanganj and Katihar.Muslims form 16.5 percent of Bihar's 105 million population.
The polls to the 243-member Bihar assembly will take place in five phases between October 12 and November 5. MIM, which has two seats in the Maharashtra assembly, has appointed Akhtar Imam as president of AIMIM's Bihar unit.
