MLC Elections: Surabhi Vani Devi wins her maiden election with over 11,000 votes
In the nail-biting contest, TRS candidate and former Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao's daughter Surabhi Vanidevi has won the Mahabubnagar Rangareddy Hyderabad Graduates constituency Member of Legislative Council ( MLC ) elections.
Surabhi Vanidevi has won the Mahabubnagar Rangareddy Hyderabad Graduates constituency by crushing BJP candidate Ramachandra Rao with a margin of 11,703 votes. Vani Devi and Ramachandra Rao got 1,49, 269, and 1,37,566 votes respectively.
The Election Commission is expected to make an official statement declaring Surabhi Vani Devi as the winner of the MLC seat. This marks the maiden polls and the first victory of Vani Devi.
The election victory is a much-needed one for the TRS party. With back-to-back jolts in the elections, TRS took the Graduate MLC elections seriously. KCR purposefully fielded Vani Devi in the constituency.
